Never enough time!

There is never enough 'time 4 library'! There are so many things to do, so many books to read, so many things to learn, goodness gracious where do you start?  The answer is HERE!  There are many books out there to teach children library skills, with lots of ready-to-go worksheets you can photocopy.  This is a great way to collect ideas, but admit it, 2D is boring!! To make it exciting for your learners, you definitely need to add an extra sparkle to the whole experience!  Get the kids to stand up, run around, look for books, look for information, get them to compete, boys vs girls, blondes vs brunettes!
Forget about the box, JUMP OUT!

I decided to put together my own personalized activities, some of them might have stemmed from the typical worksheet books, but they all are tailor made to suit our school library. I aim to create a 4D experience for the children in our school, rather than working with a 2D worksheet that would be forgotten five minutes after bell time.

To have a nice balance between information skills and reading for pleasure I will add a page of our favourite story times as well.  I am looking forward to sharing with you our favourite storytime sessions and most memorable and most effective library skill activities.  Feel free to do as I did, take my activities and knead them until they suit your library!

Of course I invite you to share your successes with the world, please do contact me if you have had an unforgettable library session because believe me, every librarian wants to know about it!
